Mary Prokops, Sally Gary, Jim Beck, me, Pauline Hagar, Linda Meckler, Larry Edwards somehow located by house that was camouflaged with plastic and tape being painted.

We discuss the SD Writers Guild meeting of this week with Maggie Marshall. She spoke on tips when speaking to sell more books. Larry's tip was to get there early if you want to hear the speaker, since the meeting started way early.

We discussed all the new books people have out now. Pauline had her new one, "Giorgi's Greek Tragedy." Erica Miner's book, "Murder in the Pit" is also out. Larry is busy with his editing busy and Linda is having success with her lecture circuit. Her books are selling from the exposure to those coming to the libraries where she speaks. There have been several people thanks her for her advice on how to deal with insurance companies with you have medical issues.

Jim Beck joined us and talked about the upcoming Writer's Loft episode to be taped on July 10th. This episode will be on the legal aspect of publishing with Mark Reichenthal. This show should be a special one and hopefully answer many burning questions we all have about the industry.

LinDee Rochelle joined us later and told us about some of the new arrangements Infinity is going to introduce that will combine a book publication with an ebook.

I read a paper from the Barnes&Noble website that lays down the law with authors that want to sell books through their stores. It emphasized the important of new books having to have a pedigree and the author have a business plan to market the book to make it worth while to make into the Big Box Stores. Also the author needs to have an arrangement with a wholesaler to be compatible with the industry standards of handling books.
