E-books are beiginning to blossom and may be in full bloom before the spring tulips of 2010! Infinity keeps making noises about something in the wind. Jerry Simmons is so excited with his new idea-in-the-making that he can't keep it entirely under wraps - even though details are not yet finalized. We as authors just have to wait and see what materializes before jumping on the bandwagon. John, thanks so much for helping to keep us informeed.

Best,

I bow to you, oh literary beacon in the night! What a masterful article this is. I applaud your enthusiasm, your insight, and your energy. Now, chill. I don't want you using up all your steam before the next issue of F&Q is released.

John, interesting summary and projection on epub ! I didn't know about the Silicon Valley entrepreneur and all those self-publishing organizations.... I still get calls, emails from iUniverse...

Where do writers make anything on their publications on the .epub , smashword.com process? or do they? did I miss the implications there? Maybe this is a wait-and-see proposition??

HI RUTH - SMASHWORDS GIVE 35% OF SALES TO THE AUTHOR. IT'S BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE - NO PUBLISHING COSTS.

Wolfman your grasp of everything never ceases to amaze me! Is there anything you don't understand? :))

I don't have a lot of hope of me ever achieving computer/electronic savy. Changing the battery in a flashlight presents a challenge for me. Thank goodness for you, Lois and my dear web builder, Kathy. Thank you for putting my trailer up as video of the month! Kathy made that. I sure didn't!

She's been at my side since the day I learned how to get online! She deserves to be identified here. Kathy Killam - kakillam1109@aol.com I want you to know I often refer her to your articles on Fox and Quill!

Excellent and comprehensive article, John. Makes my head spin just thinking about all the changes going on now in the publishing industry. Non-techie that I am, I only recently bought my first e-book after declaring that "I could never read a whole book on my computer! Never!" Well, all of a sudden, "never" is gone and here I am reading an e-book, and actually enjoying it. That's why I'm so hot now to have all three of my books available at my website as an e-book, in addition to the regular hard copy version. And if I may add my two cents to Susan Haley's comments about Kathy Killam: Kathy is definitely a gem to work with and a real pro when it comes to website building. She's also, as can be seen in this issue, a growing force in promotional videos. If you need a website, or work done on the one you have, contact Kathy.
