 "Coffee Shop Characters"

Hey John,

The imagery was excellent. Your vignette made me feel I was on the street next to this guy. I've seen a bunch of these guys on the streets of San Diego. The climate is nice and the word is out. The parks are comfortable and the pubic rest rooms are convenient. Life is sweet on the street until the lonely's get you and the concrete comes up through your shoes.

You have an interesting style with the "Robbie says," I've not seen that.

Good luck with this - is this going to expland into a novel?

Dear John,

I have often thought that some of the worst crimes in the history of this world have been conducted under the name of religion. Even if we think we are acting with true religious feeling, we need to remind ourselves that our charitable acts should not be motivated by our need to feel virtuous. True giving doesn't look for 'feel good' rewards, but they often come unannounced and unsolicited.

May the year ahead bring you many blessings and good health.

Very best,

Hey John . . .

It's good to read your work again. I've read "Sweet Heavenly Daze" twice now and this brought a smile. Maybe Robbie can be your next character to sit and visit with John Wayne a while. You ever thought of doing a sequel with a new bunch of inductees?

You're about due to visit our FWA Group in Sarasota again, wouldn't ya say?

My best to you, and hope you and yours have a great Holiday Season!
