Peter,
Can't say I ever befriended a river - I grew up in the desert, but I know what you mean. When I would return to New Mexico from Colorado the site of the mesas and the crawling thunder storms stretching across a horizon so wide I could hardly take it all end, I cried a river with joy.

Peter, you certainly know how to gently touch a person's memories. Growing up near the water I still dream the dreams of my childhood wishing to follow it somewhere, someday.
