Responses for ~ Phyllis Gold's Story
 "Marma Shakti"

Dear Phyllis-Terri,

I was most interested in reading your article on Marma. Although I personally have only limited knowledge of Eastern philosophies, I have often observed the phenomenon you describe. I have worked with a number of people whom I consider extraordinarily talented. But that one necessary ingredient seems lacking - a deep down belief in themselves. If you took a poll, I imagine most people would tell you that they want to succeed in whatever spells success for that individual. But I've come to realize that striving for success spells risk: "What if I put my whole heart and total energy into this task and still don't succeed? Then I am really a total failure." So they sabotage themselves, grind their wheels, and non-success becomes a self-fulfilling philosophy.

I think there is an important message here for us as authors. Having gone through the process of writing a book takes real effort and determination. So on one level all of us already have succeeded. Now we need to believe in ourselves and our books strongly enough to convince others that they should buy them. Infinity Publishing Special Projects Director, John Harnish, has said that no one can sell your book as well as you. I believe he is right. Marketing is not an easy task. But we can each take steps toward that goal by stepping out of our comfort zone, taking one proactive step each day and continually telling ourselves that we and our books are worth the effort.

Good luck to all of us!

Review for Phyllis Gold,

A most interesting article, Phyllis. As an avid student of The Hermetic Philosophy and the Kybalion, I find all the concepts of the conscious and unconscious mind and the Universal Energies fascinating. I will definitely investigate the provide website. Thank you.
