Hello Pauline.
Your wonderfully descriptive reflections helped me relive the trip that Ken and
I took - also with China Focus - in May of 2006. I enjoyed every minute of reading
about these same experiences through your eyes. When we visited a relocation
village, I was appalled to learn that their 10 story residential structures are
built without elevators. I questioned this and was told that this is the building
code for residential buildings - 10 stories or less do not require elevators.
Can you imagine the poor resident with an orthopedic disability or a heart condition
living on the 10th floor? I couldn't even begin to explore which China experience
was my favorite, as each in its own way could win that prize! You made that very
clear in your reflective piece as well. It is indeed an experience to visit China,
but despite all our problems, it only makes me more appreciative of living in
the USA.
Any more travels in the works for you?
Very best,

Pauline,
Very interesting trip or should I say sojourn. I can't believe you covered the country so well. The inner travel among the cities must have been mind boggling. I would have, due to travel fatigue, knocked over one of the clay soldiers and domino effect the whole collection to the ground, causing an international disaster. You did well.

Dear Pauline - Your trip sounds fabulous and you write of it well. I can 'see' a book replete with pictures. You are planning that, aren't you? This trip has to rate high on your list of incredible experiences among your many travels. The land, itself, sounds beautiful. I truly hope they focus on preserving that.
I do so agree with you that the 'Dragon' is stirring in earnest. It's a fascinating subject to consider. And somewhat scary. They are going to be the power to be reckoned with in the near future. I anxiously await the book, my friend.
