Yes, Susan. Thank you for sharing. I can see why the man could break down walls. God love you. I do.

Susan, my thanks for posting that lovely email. It deserved the exposure to many eyes. Tender, eloquent, melancholic.
I think I'll take a moment to fondle one of my pencils, and apply a few words to a blank piece of paper in his honor. And to get
that feeling one gets when one creates the way it used to be.

LETTER TO A FRIEND is a most trenchant, heartfelt piece. Here is a truly whole man recalling heartfelt fragments of a complex life and closely sharing them with Ms. Haley. And Ms. Haley has been thoughtful enough to share this most personal letter, email though it may be, with us. Mr. Delaney would be content to know that she had done so - and perhaps that is just how it rests. For the way in which Robert Delaney vibrantly reawakens a handful of key life experiences, from casual eye contact with a few lifeless objects scattered across his old roll top desk, tells us there was far less of the transitory, and much more of the imperishable in the man.
Thank you Ms. Haley

Beautiful writing and oh, so nostalgic for a world we once knew, a world that, unfortunately, is lost to the children of today.
