Responses for ~ Russ Heitz's Story " |
I thought I recognized that penchant for 'hunting'!
Russ Heitz is an impeccable writer. His manuscripts and stories are crisp, gripping,
and crafted to perfection. Russ is a 'writer's' writer. He sets the bar many
of us strive to achieve. "Crosshairs", for those of you who've not yet read it,
is a gripping mystery/thriller and won the Infinite Writer's Book of the Year
Award for 2007. I'm glad to see him sharing his talent with us here at Fox and
Quill. And, I'm honored to work with him in Sarasota's Chapter of the Florida
Writer's Association. I'd also like to thank Jack Wolf for actively encouraging
other Independent Authors to share their work here. He offers a great service
to us all.

Great taste of a thriller,
Your brief story was filled with deep emotions. It created great imagery. I was
a little uncomfortable, but that was the feeling to have while reading this.
I'm sure Klinkton County is full of foreclosures as those that can, prefer to
leave at any cost. And Chilly, please learn to park closer to the library and
find a partner that also knows how to hunt.

Hello Russ,
Your reputation as a skilled craftsman of the art of writing precedes my reading of this story, and firmly reinforces my thought about what attributes to look for in a talented writer. I enjoy your eye for detail, which you introduce sparingly, with the solitary goal of drawing the reader into a riveting, carefully unfolding plot. That said, your story becomes so meaningful because it bears an important message: Persecution toward any targeted group of people clearly reveals the ignorance and small mindedness of the persecutors. Unfortunately, their 'Hunting Season' extends all boundaries of time and place. You more than accomplished your goal of illustrating the cruelty that all too often accompanies ignorance.
