Richard,

California freeways add another dimension to your horror story. I don't want to think about it.

My, Richard You did have a narrow escape. Makes me stop to rethink keeping my 1990 Camry. Yes, I believe that people are inherently kind when someone is in need of help. It's probably not just an American trait, but one attributable to mankind. There's good in the worst of us and bad in the best of us, isn't that what they say? Your fans are very glad you escaped tragedy.

Richard,

Looks like you learn life the hard way. But maybe we are better for it. I enjoyed your story.

Hi Richard,

I enjoyed your little story, which obviously came directly from real life heartening experiences. I also note your gifted use of language and careful turning of phrase, which I as a writter, I always appreciate. I tuned in with your message so as I recently sent F & Q a story with a similar theme titled: "Little Acts of Kindness". Perhaps you will read it in Fox and Quill next month!

Very best,

Richard, my friend, you are a story in yourself! I was so sorry to hear of your series of calamities out on the highway, but very happy that you had some visits from the Angels that wander around the Planet. It had to bestow upon you a few hard but precious lessons. At least, this good swift kick in the backside now has you in a nice new dependable little car that can pass a gas station on occasion. Just the lower stress levels may save you a few pennies on Rolaids and best of all . . . you're safe and sound. Now you will believe me when I tell you to watch for the rainbows riding the tail of storms. :) They're always there.

I will take the liberty, too, of telling everyone that you've since successfully completed the twice-canceled eye surgery. I only chuckle just a little because you clung to the ol' Diplomat way past the point of a great trucker's road sense. Yes, Lois, Richard is quite the word weaver. His book, "3 Aces", is a five-star read. Three great stories woven into one action-packed and very touching novel. And you long time Fox and Quill readers will remember Richard's short story, "The River" was chosen by our cool Wolfman as F&Q's best short story of last year!

Best,

An engrossing story that many of us can relate to in different ways. How often have we found ourselves in difficult situations when we encountered people who went out of their way to give us a hand? On several occasions that I can think of, I owe my wellbeing, my sanity and even my life to some anonymous person who helped me out.
