No, like everything else, the Internet has expanded the individuals power greatly and the self-published author can control their destinies so much easier now. The printing technology brings the cost down to earth and the whole earth is marketed to via a little electronic box on your own desk top.

An excellent article, plain talking and informative. I agree wholeheartedly with the professional editing premise. So many authors who can't afford a pro, wind up accepting the words of a self-proclaimed editor with no credentials. A pro can make your book shine.
