Responses for ~ Lois Stern's Story
"Have a Pickle"

I thoroughly enjoyed Lois' little journey back in 'time'. It's heartwarming and brings on a peace as it triggers memories of the special times past. Thank you, Lois, for sharing such a wonderful trip to 'nostalgia'.

A delightful story! And we can all preserve similar wonderful memories from our own families before they're lost. "Housing developments" steal so much of our past, although people do need places to live. If we can't save the pickle factories of our lives, at least we can keep their essence forever.

Enjoyed your story on Grab a Pickle - Share a Memory. Boy oh boy... do I miss a good pickle... I used to stop by Stern's a couple of times a month as I worked in Farmingdale and always brought pickles (garlic dills) and relish home. Our parents also made special runs for your family's pickles. Does anyone still have the recipe?

I now live in Tennessee and they don't know what a pickle is ... they think a pickle is in a jam... for that matter they don't even know what a real deli is.... once you leave the New York City / Long Island area it is a new world of food... not very good either....

We too have a family chair... and old Mission Oak rocker that has been in the family since about 1880 - 1890. It has a hand carved Dutch/German Boy and Girl on each side of the back arms and Christian Crosses across the bottom...
Well I enjoyed your story and yes a memory..... I fould your story as we just had a Nathan's jared pickle which we think might be the best jar pickle you can get now...

Thank you,
