Born in Sonora, México, Irene DesGeorges
studied at the University of California at San Diego and received a
bachelor’s degree in Spanish literature and minor in English literature.
She is involved in a variety of careers in bilingual communications,
including teacher, editor, court interpreter, translator and writer. She
currently lives in San Diego with her husband, Frank Patrick. I have
been able to reap the benefits of other Latino writers whose works have
burst wide open in the last decades. I have been fortunate to live,
write, and publish at a time I refer to as the height of the
groundbreaking Raza de Bronze Literary Renaissance. The book has the
magnetic appeal of best selling works by Hispanic authors such as Luis
Alberto Urrea: The Hummingbird’s Daughter, Paolo Cohelo: The Alchemist,
Isabel Allende: The House of the Spirits, Victor Villaseñor: Rain of
Gold, Julia Alvarez: How the García Girls Lost Their Accents, and Sandra
Cisneros: Caramelo. |

Originally written and published in Spanish, Irene's award winning novel
"Inocencia: A Woman Who Challenged Fate" is
now available in English. In the book, DesGeorges describes the life
story of forbidden love and the complex drama that unfolds between
families from completely different socio-political extremes in México.
Inocencia is the daughter of poor but proud servants working in a
powerful household in southwest México. As a child, Inocencia develops
an inseparable friendship with Diego and Rosa Inés, half siblings who
share the same wealthy father, Rodrigo. As they grow up, Inocencia and
Deigo’s friendship blossoms into love, which they attempt to keep
secret. Contact Irene by email |
