“Spunk & Bite ”
By Arthur Plotnik

This book is a guide to bold contemporary style and will provide a basic working level boost to anyone's writing. The serious gnarly grit of the text is like holding a slippery fish, since the author puts real snap into his own leather-strap style. He often compares his point of view with the classic views of E. B. White's Elements of Style, which is the standard that most measure style. He points out to us dry-and-fleshy-nosed writers that style makes the words go down easier and that the elixir of fine reading depends on it. He talks of freshness, texture for mood, and stimulating selection of words. This advise will definitely give your writing more punch. I found the book a hoot to read and at the same time very smart guide to all aspects of penning a superb paragraph.

At the end, his chapter called Butterflies in the Killing Fields is worth the price of admission. Ultimately this guide is asking you to look around and visualize your wording, bring in the light, fill the senses with your thoughts. The last chapter is a set of exercises based on the teachings of each a the main chapters. The author cuts you adrift with just enough rubric to hang yourself with.

On March 17, St. Patty's Day, a group of local San Diego authors gathered at the Shakespeare Pub to share thought and advice to promote our writing. You can see some photos of the gathering by clicking on the "Authors Helping Author" segment found on the index page.

John's three novels are now fit for consumption. New editions of each have been made to clear out editorial and words use errors, the little gremlins that damage a story like termites under a fresh build deck.

"A Dark and Stormy Knight" - Make history standup and deliver

eZine Tips - by Linda Meckler

In 2005, I started writing articles for ezinearticles.com. I was told by the professionals the best way to get my name and book information out to the public was to link to the Internet writing free articles. I started doing just that. I had never written an article before and now I was writing them all the time. It was a great way for me to express my opinions about different things that made me happy or made me sad. The best part is all my information about my book and website are on the bottom of the articles.

Each article is picked up and reproduced in other websites. It is a way to get your name and your book's name connected to the web. I also started to blog, which is a less formal way of writing. I have now become a blog and article junkie.

I took my articles, and with a little rewriting and editing, I made E books out of them. I had my web man post them to my website, where they can be down loaded. I also make CD's out of these E books and give them for prizes in drawings. They also make great presents for my friends, and professional people. A CD is cheaper to give away then a paper book. I also have the ability to email anybody I want to have a copy of my E book. You could not ask for cheaper publicity.

In 2006 I received a Christmas mug from eZinearticles with their logo on it. I was thrilled. When I did not receive a Christmas gift this past year, I was very disappointed. That changed when this past week I received a large envelope in the mail from eZinearticles. In it was a mouse pad with the eZine logo and website on it. Along with the mouse pad came a letter, telling me about the most visited articles I wrote in 2007.

The letter also stated that out of 85,000 writers for their website only 500 received the mouse pad. I was so happy and felt so special, I had to call all my friends and tell them my news. I felt I had finally received some recognition for my writing. To date I have written almost 200 articles for this website.

Thanks Linda for the sage advice. ~ J. Wolf
