An abiding interest in words and their power has been key to Marj Lacey’s work in a succession of pursuits.  Before earning her Bachelor’s degree in political science at Earlham, a liberal arts college in Richmond, Indiana, Marj had launched a career as a journalist, an endeavor in which she engaged for several years.  After moving to California where she married and started a family, she returned to school, eventually earning two Master’s degrees, one in English and the other in counseling. She taught English at the high school and community college levels before becoming an educational counselor and opening a private practice as a marriage and family therapist.  She currently offers online life coaching at MyTherapyNet.com.

In her book, It’s Not a Life Sentence, Marj addresses the key mental health issue of our time: the loss of connection to our own authentic selves.  Caught up in meeting the demands of careers and needs of families, bombarded by media images and advertisers’ messages, we slowly forget who we are.  Only by rediscovering our genuine selves, Marj believes, can we make the life changes necessary to become whole and profoundly happy.

The mother of three grown sons, Marj lives in Vista, California.  Among her hobbies are traveling, photography, and reading.
