Buzz - Health Check
by John Wolf

What have you been doing lately? Avoiding creditors, I know, but I mean, how's your writing projects coming? How are things going with the published project? Have you started a Bucket List yet? Let me know what's up. In the meantime: Here's a few tips that show how bad the economy really is...

I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.

I ordered a burger at McDonald's and the kid behind the counter asked, "Can you afford fries with that?"

CEO's are now playing miniature golf.

If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call them and ask if they meant you or them.

Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.

McDonald's is selling the 1/4 ouncer.

Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children's names.

A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico.

Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.

Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.

The Mafia is laying off judges.

Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.

Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal. Oh Great!! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Lifeline. I got a call-center in Pakistan , and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

Amazon Got Spanked

There is a lot of buzz going on about the lawsuit between Booklocker.com and Amazon over the charge to POD authors and publishers that didn't cave into going with Booksurge to avoid an approximate $30 a year fee to list books on Amazon.

Blooklocker called their bluff and sued them on monopoly extortion charges. The blogs, Internet social site, and a lot of angry authors pelted, not only Amazon in general, but their funky, half-baked self-publishing brain child, Booksurge.

Booksurge took a dive and augured into oblivion to be replaced by Creatspace, which apparently is just a new facade. No big improvement to quality being seen there so far. But the big news is Booklocker won the lawsuit. Rather than try to explain the thing, click_here, and you can read it for yourself. It's a lesson in legalize. Booklocker gave the cash to charity.
