Poems

EDITORIAL RUSH
On the brink of “printer’s ink” an authorized quote arrives,
as does a note from one stalwart poet,
refusing to replace a line --
I knew it!
Yet another agrees to concede
a verb’s changing its coat from
the term “crawl” to “creep”
in that “crawl” seems so . . . muscular --
unless you’re rompin’ --
then the Pronouns should be bumpin’.
“Creep” seeps in
with greater sleutheness . . .
for an evil
with aloofness.
Our cover arrives by special carrier.
One photo-piece is still a barrier.
It refuses to be scanned
by my smart, newly purchased “Compu-Art”.
Searching swiftly
can I find some flavorful design?
Yes, I slap it on the jacket,
cut and paste and pack it!

WHY WRITE?
When life’s sadness slips
catatonic
the act of penning words
in Rorschach paintings
births renewal.

U R INSPIRATIONS
FOR NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS
C. S. creates a classical laugh.
Though intent on theological craft
Mr. Lewis proves a comic raft
in a sea of devilish waters.
G. K., as in Chesterton,
divines God quite deftly.
With anarchy and intrigue so deadly,
he structures a story
where goodness and justice will triumph eventually.
T. S. renders cathedrals of poetic heights . . .
with word choices assembling an elegant set,
our Eliot invites
his readers to parties
’round tables with knights.
A challenge emerges from reading the best.
Am I not, as a writer, then pledged to aspire
to preserve vibrant forests
from bleak, wasteful words?
A receiver of blessings, whom then shall I bless?
Will my visions reach zeniths?
Shall my songs inspire choirs?
